EOS 5D Mark III

Finally purchased my main body: the 5D Mark 3.  I have been trying it out for a few days.  Reading articles around the world in regards to the 5D Mark 3 and the fan boys complain about “features” of the 5D.  Here is my conclusion:

- I have no problems with the complex auto-focus system.  I am very use to changing the focal points and areas using the multi-fn button. (it’s the same as the 7D).

- the zoom in & out buttons are missing:  Yes, I noticed a big difference.  I still tend to press the top two buttons for zooming.  I read that Canon is considering putting this back using firmware upgrade.

- the red/black box during dark situations: I never understood this issue and I haven’t encountered this issue yet.  Maybe I don’t take enough photos to have this issue arise.

- light leak issue:  This is not an issue for my 5D body.  Firstly, I doubt I would use the light on the LCD panel while pressing the shutter button.  Secondly, I rarely take such low light photos.  Thirdly, I do have the “3″ in the serial number.  That means it’s the first batch that has the fix OOTB.

That’s it for now.  I’ll post more comments after a few more weeks of using it.

Cheers for now.

Canon EOS 5D Mark III vs Canon EOS 7D – Upgrade or not

A very good article for me to read since I’m a EOS 7D owner.

Looking for a Portrait Lens

Recently, I’ve been looking at my collection of lens and preparing for a FF camera in my gear, I’ve noticed that I’m missing a decent portrait lens.  Searching around and figured that I should get the EF 85mm f/1.8.  Unfortunately the EF 85mm f/1.2L is tooooo expensive and with the 5D Mark III in the horizon, I’ll have to live with a 85mm f/1.8.

5D Mark III

Reviews of the 5D Mark III are in. I’m been reading the reviews and it looks like it’s a great machine. Can’t wait to get one in my photo gear.

Official Portfolio Photobook released!

Finally had some time to get my wedding photos in order and created my first wedding portfolio photo book. Now my client’s can see my photos printed in a photo book. The print out turned out very well and I’m very happy for it. Thanks to Agnes for helping me on doing the layout.
